1. If you are studying for a 3-year BSc in Economics and Finance, or a BSc in Quantitative Finance, you will follow different study patterns from BBA students.
2. All students admitted to a 3Y Program are required to take one microeconomics course list below by their economics background:

ECON 2103
Introductory Microeconomics
[3 credits]
Students without AL Economics background
(including those entering with AL Business and Economics)
ECON 2113 Microeconomics 
[3 credits]
Students entering with AL Economics background
ECON 2913 Honors Microeconomics
[3 credits]
Students entering with Grade B or above in HKALE Economics

3. Global Business students take LABU 2050 Honors Business Case Analyses [3 credits], in lieu of LABU 2051 and LABU 2052.
4. Students admitted through JEE need to take MATH 1013 and MATH 1014.
5. Students entered with the following mathematics background could take free electives instead:

  • Grade B or above in HKCEE Additional Mathematics
  • Pass in AS Mathematics and Statistics, AL/AS Applied Mathematics or AL Pure Mathematics

6. Students admitted through other channels are invited to sit in the Mathematics Placement Test. Decision of the Mathematics Placement Test will be shown on http://mathtest.ust.hk/recommend/index.html.

2. All students admitted to a 4Y Program are required to take one microeconomics course list below:

All students except students scoring 3 or above in DSE Economics  
ECON 2113 Microeconomics
[3 credits]
Students scoring 3 or above in DSE Economics

3. Students who enroll in the BSc in Economics and Finance are required to take this course for graduation.
4. BBA in Global Business students are required to take LABU 2050 for graduation. SBM students other than those majoring in Global Business are required to take LABU 2051 & 2052 for graduation.
5.  Students admitted through JUPAS 4-year programs are required to take one mathematics course listed below:

MATH 1003
Calculus and Linear Algebra
[3 credits]
Students with DSE Mathematics Compulsory Modulewhoscored at 4 or below, and
If Students with DSE Mathematics Extended Module 1 or 2 (M1/M2), who scored 2 or below.
MATH 1013 Calculus I
[3 credits]
1. Students with DSE Mathematics Compulsory Module who scored 5 or above, or
2. Students with DSE Mathematics M1/M2 who scored 3 or above
Students who do not fulfill the requirements but would like to take this course should consult the Department of Mathematics
MATH 1023 Honor Calculus I
[3 credits]
Students who would like to take this course should consult the Department of Mathematics

6. Special attention for students who would like to select a BSc in Quantitative Finance:
Students who would like to enroll in the BSc Quantitative Finance (QFIN) must take MATH 1013 OR MATH 1020 OR MATH 1023 in year-1. Students who take MATH 1003 cannot study in the QFIN program.
