1. Can I apply for an Exchange without attending an interview?

No. All eligible applicants must attend an interview.

2. Do I need to submit my TOEFL/IELTS score after completing my online application?

It depends. You only need to submit your TOEFL/IELTS scores if the university you are applying to, for example Indiana University in the US, requires it.

3. If I am selected for an Exchange, when do I need to confirm the offer?

Very quickly. You need to confirm your exchange offer within one week of the result being announced through the online accept/decline system and submit the $1,000 cash deposit to our office.

4. Can I apply for an Overseas Exchange in my Year 2 Spring term and then a Mainland Exchange in my Year 3 fall term?

No. You can only participate in one Exchange Program - either an Overseas Exchange or a Mainland Exchange, but not both.

5. In case I am not successful in my application for a Year 2 Spring Overseas Exchange, can I apply for Year 3 Fall China Exchange?

Yes, you can.

6. How should I make my exchange choices?

First you should do your own research on different universities and choose a school that you feel matches your academic background and is right for personal objectives.
Details of course offerings in each school, the characteristics of the school, student culture, past experiences and other information can be found in previous exchange students’ reports posted at our exchange-out website. You may also check the rankings of different universities as reference.

7. The university which I would like to go to has a term clash with that of HKUST. What can I do? Do I need to defer for one term?

If you want to take an Exchange Term that clashes with a term at HKUST you might need to take the risk of deferring for one term. In this case, you will need to decide whether the deferment and the inconvenience it may cause you is worth it.
